Wow!! Well, what can I say?  Last Tuesday was the first night of Iver Singers, and everyone really enjoyed it (including me!)  Woohoo!!!!  What a wonderful, friendly group.

I must say I was really proud of all the singers (23 of them), especially as some were quite nervous.  It actually takes a lot of guts to walk into a room full of people you don't know, and then get up and sing, especially as quite a few had come along on their own.  Well done! ;)

As promised there were no auditions and no-one was made to sing on their own.  Singing in a group is a wonderful opportunity to tentatively "try out" your voice. If you want to come along and sing really quietly, or even mime to start off with (this has actually been suggested by 2 people) that is absolutely fine with me.

Having said that, the singing actually sounded beautiful and I was really impressed on all levels.  It's hard to believe that 14 members of the choir had NEVER sung before.  I feel honoured and inspired to know that you all came along, and challenged yourselves to do something new.

After after a few warm ups and a couple of simple rounds, we learnt our first "proper" song, which most people seemed to know anyway.  After a quick break we recapped on a few things and then launched into a contemporary fun song which we will be learning over the next few weeks.

I've got LOTS of ideas for the future and can't wait to see you all again on Tuesday.

If anyone wants to join us, or has any questions, please email me on sara@iversingers.com

Love and musical hugs

Sara x
